Fragmented World - Round 5.5

"She didn't do anything to me..." Iris stated, not daring to say more. After all of Sera's critics, he started to feel really like an idiot, and he didn't feel like mentionning it to Banafrit... not now.

Memphis noticed this, but said nothing. When Sera was glancing, he pulled out the letter, and quickly rolled it into a small scroll. He pinned it onto the wall, in a crack between the bricks, then turned around and left.

Banafrit seemed relieved at this. The bounty huntress had done her a load of damage, after all, and she was afraid that Iris would be treated the same. However...

Yet you seem unwell.

She wrote in concern, glancing up at Memphis as he returned.

Serafina waited. She did see the note, but she wouldn't chance grabbing it until the assassins were out of view.

"I... was reckless," was all Iris said. He knew that Memphis would make him spit it out sooner or later, but he preferred not to tell it if he could.

The younger boy simply glanced at his brother. "Let's get going."

Banafrit nodded, placing a comforting hand on Iris's shoulder, as if asking if he needed any help.

Iris startled at first, but then he allowed himself to hesitantly lean on Banafrit for support. "Thank you..." He whispered as they started walking back into the building.

"Remember that you are not done with this," Memphis reminded his brother, "You should have a rest first, and then report to us what happened."

"Great, all that jazz. And I haven't even got my supplies yet," said Iris sullenly.

Cross sat silently, too nervous to go out or do anything now. He still had inner conflict about whether or not he should tell Sera about what he stumbled upon...

He blinked as the guest house door opened, and flew into the blonde woman's arms. "Sera! You're back!" He said in relief, then glanced around. "...What about Agapeto and Agapito?"

"...They aren't coming back. They are no longer our allies." Serafina said tiredly.

Cross stopped, staring at Sera's blue eyes in surprise. "...We're on our own again?"

She hesitantly nodded. "...Yes, I suppose so."
